Response to Covid-19
At Butter Valley Harvest, we have always been about clean, fresh produce grown and harvested with the highest food safety conditions. Our food safety plan is audited annually by the USDA, who also inspects our growing, harvesting, and packing. Since we are a small family business, there are only a few sets of hands ever involved in seeding, planting, and harvesting. Strict handwashing is enforced upon entry and re-entry to the greenhouse and nitrol gloves are used. Workers experiencing any symptoms of illness (at any time, not just during this pandemic), are not permitted in harvesting activities. As a local food provider, we will remain open and in full production. Fresh, nutritional produce is more important than ever for a healthy immune system! While many of our outlets are local restaurants and schools who have had to close their doors or reduce to takeout, we continue to work hard to find new outlets for the community, and work with the local stores who sell our produce. Now you tell me!!! I wish I would have known! I figured that out the hard way! We can't tell you how many times since the summer of 2008, we have wished someone would have told us... would have warned us about... would not have assumed... We've figured a lot of things out the hard way. And we've had people in the business tell us things they obviously assumed we knew much earlier in the process. We've learned a lot since 2008, and now we'd like to help you, if we are able. We would love to share all of our valuable experience with you and help in any way possible. If you are looking to start a hydroponic greenhouse business at least 100 miles from where we are located, we will gladly do everything we can to help you. We are available via email or telephone. The first half hour is free of charge, but after that, we do charge a consulting fee. Our experience comes at a cost, and so does our time away from our family and our main business.
