Meet the growers

We at Butter Valley Harvest stand for quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

Owners K. Ryan Ehst and his dad are joined by several "almost-family" employees to make up the team at Butter Valley Harvest.

K. Ryan Ehst

Owner

Ryan is the 11th generation of his family (the 7th bearing the Ehst name) to be a part of this farm and the one with the dream to use it to provide fresh, quality food for the local community.  Ryan is married to Amanda and Daddy to four young children.  He grew up on the Ehst Homestead Farm, graduated from Boyertown High School, moved on to study at Eastern Mennonite University and Virginia Tech, and after a number of years away, returned to settle in his hometown.  Returning to the family farm and using the latest technologies to farm it fulfills a long-time dream of Ryan's, and he is excited to go to work every day!

Ryan has his hands in every aspect of the business and is also available to consult with young businesses looking to get started in this field.

Kenneth M. Ehst

Ken is the 10th generation of his family (the 6th bearing the Ehst name) and is married to Anne and father of three adult children -- Ryan, Kristin, and Melissa, and proud Poppa to eight grandchildren.  He also grew up on the Ehst Homestead Farm and now owns the farm in partnership with his brother and sister-in-law.  Ken taught Biology at Pennridge High School for thirty-five years and retired in June 2007.
